Wine Estate, Franschhoek
After honeymooning at Chamonix in the French alps, an earlier owner of this farm changed the name from Waterfall to Chamonix. Heavy winter snows easily support a comparison. It is also another exception and, like it’s neighbor Dieu Donné, shares the same soils and west facing aspect.
Chamonix wines have a reserve range which includes Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir, both lesser grown varieties in the valley but certainly among the best in the country. Next to the Cellar Door is the Arkeste restaurant, ideal for summer lunches under the spreading trees.
